Same issues present themselves with video games dungeonscpe they still utilize them often so it seems there is still acceptable loss. But they had an app that was ready for release.
Well there’s this thing where they used to make PDFs of every book, and then everybody just pirated the PDFs and didn’t buy the books and that made Wizards unhappy. Have you used the app? But that seems to oocr another mistake by the devs, it seems that the majority of users are Android or web users.
And have the application require online verification if you want to be hardcore drm to kill the key gen problem. I was sitting on a 2-hour layover between flights when I got my invite, and after 5 minutes with that lump of shit I went back to staring blankly at the people walking down the travelator. I want to remove this capability, but the only way i know to do it is to write to jpg and then to pdf, but this is cumbersome and i suspect causes some of the files sharpness and quality to be lost.
Either Trapdoor doesn’t know what the fuck they’re doing and were hiding their total lack of progress from Wizards, or Wizards didn’t care that their digital software solution was being fucked up, yet again. I’d much rather buy one. They could have had it done if it was a priority.
The issue is that he is entirely discounting the completed Ipad app, which even if oc of us myself included couldn’t try out was probably a good deal more refined. They’ve been ready to submit to Apple for over a month now, but WotC wouldn’t agree to a pricing model. Maybe wizards will actually release pdfs. Then they should let anyone who wants to write an app that uses that API. After all, the pricing model was the one dungeonsacpe they wouldn’t give details on because they were “still working on it with WotC.
All they did was remove the option for those of us that wanted to purchase a legitimate PDF. So if you did make an assessment based on that product, it would at least be representative of where the project was intended to be. Orcs prefer wearing vivid colors that many humans would consider unpleasant, dunggeonscape as blood red. Making a Pathfinder character is significantly more complex than a 5e one, yet their tablet apps are signifantly easier to use than Dungeonscape.
I’m not sure if I agree or disagree with them because of the hardcore gamer example: In the late 90’s hardcore gamers were a target audience for video game companies, but they quickly found that this audience was notorious for completely fucking over developers by rampantly pirating and hacking games it’s not fun for casual players to compete against players who cheat.
Welcome to Reddit, the front page of the internet. And before you criticize the development of the web and android versions – keep in mind that the critical deliverable that Wizards wanted was an iOS app. And honestly, dhngeonscape a project that was just cancelled is some sour grapesand a pretty unclassy move. Not sure why you thought I was suggesting they weren’t technically able to create PDF files. There was either a lack of staff, or a lack of competent staff, or perhaps both at Trapdoor that they weren’t able to have a working character builder out either coinciding with the publication of the PHB, or at least within a couple weeks of it.
Besides, you said that if “they” WotC released pdfs that we’d see a huge influx of apps. Generally, this system is known as the text recognition software that will help in the conversion of ordinary scanned files into udngeonscape that.
Nothing is worse than using digital tools at dungeeonscape table. Obviously, the tools wouldn’t be allowed to provide full text, but let me have a character generator capable of making a bard with a full list of spells. The only drawback is it doesn’t have all the PHB spells, so I have to enter them by hand. WotC probably wanted to charge more or take a bigger cut and Trap Door couldn’t afford it.
Dungeonscape pdf ocr to word
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot dungeonsvape the subpar UI elements were specifically requested by WotC. Use ocr software optical character recognition to convert scanned documents to editable ms word, excel, html or searchable pdf files.
If you didn’t use the iPad app, then you aren’t really commenting on the project as a whole – which makes dungeoonscape assessment more than a little unfair.
Licenses don’t inherently require only one company having access to them. Was great to go over there and see how people with huge budgets do their testing as I do web site management.
So what do you do with all the books that dungeonscaps printing errors smudged pages, upside-down pages, loose or detached bindings, improperly cropped pages, etc. There is absolutely no question where app development resources should be spent. Why would you want to maintain 3 separate systems that all do the exact same thing? Tell me they achieved that, then tell me that that users experience doesn’t count because he didn’t use it specifically on dungeoscape.
Dungeonscape Announcement : dndnext
I wasn’t aware that there was any indication that WotC actually considered Trapdoor as an investment opportunity.
To be fair, scanning each individual page and relying on OCR is both a lot more effort and a lot less quality than copy-pasting an official PDF.
Use clear, concise title names – Titles must be clear, concise, and not worded in a misleading fashion. For a hell of a lot of users that didn’t have the forethought to have an iPad handy the experience with dungeonscape was pretty damn sub par.
He’s not called “pathguy” because of Pathfinder. Sending it back for a replacement means more money and effort spent by WOTC. At least there can be some solace in the fact that it wasn’t turning out well, anyway. If its completely unavailable to obtain legally, you only force your customers to become criminals.
Now as for why Wizards hasn’t approached a skilled app company that has years of proven xungeonscape is beyond me, and very annoying, so on that I think we both agree. Yeah, it was a mess for sure. NO assessment is fair, because the dunfeonscape wasn’t released!
