In some ways that is a good thing. I was certainly inspired. Crazy that no one even knew they existed for so long. The science part was fascinating. Which isn’t too hard, because I’ve only read textbooks until now. And, it was written in the s! De Kruif writes with an infectious enthusiasm and a strong narrative drive, so that the essays hold up remarkably well – one is swept up in the story.
